Hlavní téma šestého ročníku filmového festivalu Mezipatra 2005 - gay a lesbické rodičovství - inspirovalo vznik originálního projektu Family Reunion.
Cílem projektu bylo přinést odpověď na otázku "Jak se žije gay a lesbickým rodičům ve střední Evropě?"
Způsob, kterým se odpovědi šíří směrem k veřejnosti, je publikace rozhovorů s rodiči z České a Slovenské republiky, Polska, Maďarska a Slovinska. Součástí publikace jsou i fotografie, které byly k vidění na výstavách v brněnském Café Steiner a v prostorách pražského kina Světozor. Uskutečnily se také veřejné diskuse s mezinárodní účastí o teoretických aspektech i praktických zkušenostech.
V kontextu středoevropských zemí je obdobný projekt unikátní - zatímco například ve Spojených státech se portréty a příběhy teplých rodičů objevují v populárních časopisech, u nás zůstávají neviditelní. I na vystavených ilustračních fotografiích neuvidíte tváře rodičů. V roce 2005 gayové a lesby stále cítí nutnost chránit své děti před homofobií okolí a tudíž si volí neviditelnost. Tato skutečnost sama o sobě napovídá mnohé o omezeních, se kterými se gay a lesbičtí rodiče potýkají.
Projekt Family Reunion vznikl s podporou International Visegrad Fund a Slovak-Czech Women's Fund.

The main focus of the sixth edition of the festival Mezipatra - gay and lesbian parenting - inspired the launch of the original project Family Reunion. Its aim is to bring answers to the question "What is life like for gay and lesbian parents in Central Europe"?
The output through which the answers will be spread to the general public is a publication of interviews with parents from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Slovenia. A part of the publication is a series of photographs, which can be seen at two exhibitions, in Cafe Steiner in Brno and the Svetozor cinema in Prague.
The project is unique in the context of Central European countries; while for instance in the United States, portraits of gay and lesbian parents can be seen in popular magazines, in our region queer parents remain invisible. You will not be able to see the faces of parents at the exhibited photos. In 2005, gay and lesbian parents still feel the necessity to protect their children from homophobia and therefore they choose invisibility. This fact itself says much about the restrictions which gay and lesbian parents face.
